THE FINAL MATCH REPORT

What a great Handicap Singles final it was between Mark Naylor and Stewart McGinnie who battled it out in a scintillating rain delayed final. Stewart, with a 2 shot advantage in the handicap went into an early lead and stayed ahead for 21 ends with some excellent draw bowling. At one point he was 11 shots ahead.

Mark never gave up and his dogged perseverance was rewarded when he finally went into a 20 -18 lead. Stewart remained resolute and with three thirds, his drive to remove Mark's second bowl, which would have given Stewart the victory, missed by millimetres. Mark took the next end to win the match 22 - 18 and lifted the coveted Memorial Cup, presented by Club President Ade Leitch. Thank you to all the players, the markers, the spectators and everyone who helped out in the tea hut and on the plancha.
